Good Old Mannheim

Red and me spend the weekend with friends in Mannheim. We got some shopping done and enjoyed the 'big' city :)

Lots of family! Both of my brothers could make it - I can't remember the last time we all met in the same place. Good times.

 Getting checked out by our Dad - Red is supposed to blow up balloons with her nose to help her get rid of that mucus in the ear. Not a favorite, as you can imagine ...

Today we went over to my Dad's house and had more of everything - more family, more presents, and more great food (here, carving the goose).

Back in the Odenwald

We're back! After a 6 hour delay at the airport we made it here safe and sound. Jany, Oma, and Opa picked us up in Frankfurt and had Brezeln and chocolate ready. Red got a reindeer girl that she named Jasmine. On the long drive home through dark forests and small towns (let's say we took the long route) we sang along to Christmas songs from the radio - Red led "Rudolph" and other American classics :)

This afternoon we caught the last day of Weihnachtsmarkt! It wasn't too cold and the snow is already gone, but we still had Glühwein (mulled wine) and looked at arts and crafts.

... and Red had a Worscht, of course!

Sophias erster Nikolaus

Wir waren bei einer österreichischen Kollegin zum Nikolaus eingeladen, zusammen mit vier anderen Familien und deren Kindern. Abends kam doch tatsächlich der echte Nikolaus vorbei! Während sich die anderen Kinder anstellten, den Stab halten zu dürfen, sah sich Sophia das Ganze aus sicherer Entfernung von der Treppe aus an. Auf dem Schoß von Steffi, die schon bei uns babysitten war.

Fast hätte Nikolaus sie übersehen ... sie traute sich schließlich doch nach unten, an Steffis Hand. Und trotz gutem Zureden sagte sie fast nix.

 

Puh! Geschafft.

Kartoffelernte

 So, da bin ich wieder! Leider gab es die letzte Zeit Schwierigkeiten beim Hochladen der Fotos und wie das so ist, wenn man viel zu tun ... wenn es umständlich ist, bleibt es liegen ;)

Hier seht ihr unsere allererste Krtoffelernte von vor zwei Wochen - nachdem die Pflanzen nicht welken wollten, wurde ich etwas ungeduldig und musste einfch nachschauen! Aus drei Kartoffeln waren acht geworden, juchuh! Ich habe große Pläne für zukünftige Ernten, wie ihr euch vorstellen könnt. Außerdem macht es Wind im Lehrerzimmer wenn man nebenbei erwähnt, dass das Mittagessen aus eigenem Anbau stammt :)

Meine Rukola-Pflänzchen wachsen gerade hübsch vor sich hin und einige enden als Kleingrün im Salat - auch lecker! Und was wächst gerade in euerem Garten?

Ein Bett fuer Sock Monkey

Von wegen Entspannung - musste doch noch mal ran heute Abend. Nachdem ich diese Bastelanleitung bei Pinterest gefunden habe, gab es fuer Sophia kein Halten mehr. Wir machten uns auf die Suche nach einem grossen Karton und dann durfte ich messen und schnitzen, waehrend Sophia Erdnussbutter aus dem Glas loeffelte ...


Man koennte das Bett vielleicht noch anmalen, aber schoen stabil ist es! ;)

Nach den Konferenzen ...

... erst mal ein bisschen entspannen.

Miniferien bis Sonntag, denn es ist fast schon Thanksgiving (alias Turkey Day). Meine Kollegin hat mir eine Flasche frischen Eierlikoer in die Hand gedrueckt und die naechsten Tage habe ich nur schoene Dinge vor: Adventskalender basteln, Weihnachtsfimo brennen und unsere Kerzengirlanden aufhaengen. Hach!
